General Description of Work:
The primary purpose of this position is to function as a dispensing pharmacist and pharmacist manager in Student Health Services. The Pharmacist will maintain pharmacy licensure as dictated by the laws of North Carolina in full compliance with policies and procedures of the NC Board of Pharmacy. The Pharmacist will be able to identify problems related to the medication needs of patients and assist the practitioner in resolving problems with appropriate alternative therapeutic options; dispense and prescribe medication to patients and provide verbal and written instructions on the proper administration, side effects, therapeutic indications and precautions in full compliance with State and Federal requirements; and accurately document medications dispensed on a daily basis according to State and Federal requirements. The Pharmacist will provide in-service education for Student Health Service staff, participate in the development of policies and procedures and in quality assurance activities. Must maintain pharmacy hours of Monday through Friday 8AM-5PM.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
This position requires knowledge of professional pharmacy theory, techniques, practices and procedures in the dispensing and compounding of medication and knowledge of disease states and how pharmacology interplays with resolving or stabilizing the disease. The successful candidate must have the ability to continually stand, walk and bend; ability to coordinate pharmaceutical business and administrative duties efficiently; and ability to supervise staff within the pharmacy. The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills; excellent customer service skills; and computer skills to include data entry, computerizing documents, email and internet usage. Requires ability to lift, carry and unload supplies. The successful applicant should be a graduate of a recognized school of pharmacy and have two years of recent experience as a retail licensed pharmacist. Experience with QS1 and BANNER programs is a plus. A candidate with recent experience serving a diverse young adult population is preferred.
Licensed to practice pharmacy in the State of North Carolina.
